It’s no secret in the office that my all-time favourite place to go ski-ing is L’Apogée in Courchevel 1850. Ski-ing aside, the facilities and level of service are outstanding. Here are my top ten tips for staying at L’Apogée - it’s definitely a holiday you will remember (for good reasons!).
Tip Number 1: L’Apogée has a ski-in ski-out ramp so you really can go from the comfort of your lovely room straight to the slopes in minutes!
Tip Number 2: Set at the top of a former Olympic ski jump, you’re only 1km from the centre of Courchevel so everything is really accessible.
Tip Number 3: In a worst case scenario that your bags get lost, don’t panic as in each room a L’Apogée puffer jacket awaits your arrival! It’s such a lovely touch by the hotel (pictured).
Tip Number 4: If you’re travelling with kids, the facilities are great and the hotel has its own clubs, the Mini VIP 1850 for little people up to 10 years old and the Freestyle 1850 which is a cool space for kids between 11-15 years old to hang out, listen to music and play computer games.
Tip Number 5: If you don’t want to ski all day every day, there is loads to enjoy at L’Apogée - escape to the Spa L’Apogée by La Prairie for the afternoon and book in for one of their Bamford Signature Massages, total bliss!
Tip Number 6: If you want complete privacy, you can book one of the hotel’s five-bedroom chalets adjacent to the main building. They’re perfect if you want a real slice of luxury but still with the benefits of the ski-in ski-out access and restaurants and bars. Book The Penthouse for its roof terrace and hydrotherapy hot tub!
Tip Number 7: One of my favourite places for lunch in Courchevel 1850 is Cave des Creux - it used to be a shepherds’ hut and cheese cave and is perfect for groups and families, The cheese fondue is amazing!
Tip Number 8: The staff at the hotel are one of a kind which makes your stay even more special. From remembering how you take your coffee to what meals you’ve ordered, they don’t miss anything and they really contribute to making it a special holiday.
Tip Number 9: Ask the hotel to book you on a Snowshoe expedition - it’s a guided activity and you can explore the forests, looking out for chamois or fox tracks or even catching glimpses of them yourself!
Tip Number 10: The hotel is a magical place to spend Christmas - Santa Claus turns up with special gifts for the kids (and adults!).
